Who We Are
Building Christian Community by Sharing God’s Love & Grace
Our Mission
Our mission at FUMCA is to build a christian community that is in service to its neighbors. If our faith doesn’t lead us to acts of service, out of love, then our faith is useless. We strive to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We seek love and grace in all that we do, in the ways we serve, in the ways we worship—living the gospel through acts of mercy, piety, and uplifting the dignity that every human being has. We are a reconciling community. That means we are a part of the Reconciling Ministry Network (RMN)—a network of UMC congregations and small groups that believe God’s love and grace doesn’t not exclude people from the body of Christ.
All are welcome. (No, really, there’s space for you here)
Come as you are.
We are striving for perfection, and may have a while to go, but God goes with us on this journey together.
“Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another.”
— United Methodist Hymnal, “Service for Word and Table II,” 12.
What is a United Methodist?
United Methodists formed after a merging of several faith bodies in 1968 during their global session. We are a globally connected body of churches who follow the teachings of John Wesley (1703-1791).
We are Protestants that range from reformed, Anglicans in disguise, to grace-aligned baptists.
At FUMCA we are members of the Mountain Sky Annual Conference, and a part of the Trinity District of that Conference. (It’s our regional connection body)
Right now, United Methodism means several different things as our denomination is breaking up into new and different expressions of the Christian faith with a Methodist lens.
