EMERGENCY EVACUATION PLAN
FUMC Alamosa Sanctuary/Worship Space
This evacuation plan should be implemented in the event of a fire, or any other situation presenting eminent danger to persons present in the Sanctuary, when directed by the pastor, or qualified lay person, or usher to evacuate immediately.
In the event of an emergency evacuation, you will be instructed to leave this space and should; 1) proceed to the front of the sanctuary, past the alter and lectern area, up the steps, and to the far back corners of the building, where an exit door is located in each corner of the building, both southeast and northeast OR,
2) alternatively you may also be directed to exit the building through the sanctuary main entrance doors and out the foyer doors to the outside parking area, BUT only upon instruction of the pastor or qualified lay person, or usher. Since the Sanctuary space does not provide for wheelchair mobility ramps leading to the back emergency exits, you are advised to offer assistance and physical aid to any person in the congregation who cannot quickly evacuate the facility under their own physical capabilities.
Want to serve in worship?
Worship is a gathering time for fellowship, praising God, and learning about the faith. Now, that’s a super simplified description, true. What’s also true is that it is an expression of the people as they grow as disciples and learn the tools to wrestle with their faith as members of the body of Christ. Are you interested in serving in worship? You can use the email address below, or fill out the contact form with questions and info.

How can you serve?
There are several ways you can serve!
Liturgists serve as lay leaders for the congregation, leading responsive litanys and prayers as well as scripture reading.
Children’s Message Have an excuse to sit with scripture and the lesson!
Usher Especially as we look into returning to worship, helpers to keep us safe and responsible are all the more needed. Y’all assist with supporting worship by assisting flow, bulletins, and the like.
Worship is the work of the people. It’s better when we use our gifts to support and encourage one another in community.
